Ground Control Makes Cloud Media Feel Local

New desktop app for ATOMOSphere brings cloud media directly into desktop workflows.

By Atomos

Melbourne, Australia – xx September 2026: Atomos today announced a major evolution of its ATOMOSphere cloud platform with the launch of Ground Control, a desktop app that mounts ATOMOSphere workspaces as local drives, allowing creators to browse, organize and access cloud media just like local files.

Alongside the launch of Ground Control, Atomos is also introducing Bins and Editable Review Links, extending collaboration across the ATOMOSphere platform.

ATOMOSphere is a cloud-based production ecosystem designed for video professionals, photographers, and content creators. It now enables users to upload, store, edit, share, review, and collaborate on media from anywhere in the world.

With Ground Control, creators can move files, preview media and access content directly from the Finder. Files are downloaded and intelligently cached on demand, providing immediate access while minimizing local storage requirements.

This approach removes friction from file management and gives creators a faster, more intuitive way to work with cloud-based media.

“Cloud workflows should feel as natural as working with files on your own computer,” said Peter Barber, Atomos CEO. “Ground Control makes ATOMOSphere feel like a natural extension of your desktop, while Bins and Editable Review Links make it easier than ever for creative teams to organize, review and collaborate from anywhere.”

Bins let teams organize media into shared collections without moving or duplicating files, making it easier to collaborate on edits, reviews and shot selections.

Editable Review Links let users update shared review links after they’ve been sent by adding or removing media or changing permissions. Teams stay aligned around a single review destination, eliminating duplicate links and reducing confusion during client approvals.

Together, Ground Control, Bins and Editable Review Links streamline media management from capture through collaboration and delivery. Whether working solo or across global teams, creators can upload from any device, edit from anywhere and deliver instantly, without being tied to a single location or system.

Supporting a wide range of video and still image formats—including ProRes, HEVC, H.264 and RAW—from all major camera brands, ATOMOSphere provides an affordable platform for cloud backup, collaboration and media sharing.

Every ATOMOSphere account starts with 20GB of free storage, allowing creators to begin uploading and sharing content instantly. Paid plans unlock more storage, editing capabilities and premium features. Annual memberships of 1TB storage or more also qualify for a 15 percent discount on all purchases from the Atomos online store, extending the value of the broader Atomos ecosystem.

Availability

The Ground Control desktop app is now available for all ATOMOSphere members on MacOS 15 or later. Anyone can sign up for a free ATOMOSphere account today and start uploading, sharing, and collaborating immediately.
