ProRes RAW combines the visual and workflow benefits of RAW video with the incredible real-time performance of ProRes. This format gives filmmakers enormous latitude when adjusting the look of their images, making it ideal for HDR workflows.

RAW over SDI Activation
Ninja V owners can now benefit from the ability to record RAW over SDI with compatible cameras using the AtomX SDI Module and paid upgrade of $99. The Activation Key for SDI RAW and HDMI RAW to SDI Video can be be purchased via your my.atomos.com account.
These new features bring even more versatility to the Ninja V, providing professional I/O options for a multitude of cameras – from entry level mirrorless cameras through to the latest compact cinema and high-end professional cameras. H.265 Recording for Ninja V
Ninja V owners will soon benefit from the ability to record using the 10-bit H.265 (HEVC) codec by purchasing the upgrade through my.atomos.com for $99. Having the ability to record in H.265 adds even more versatility to the Ninja V, as you can now choose to record in a high-quality compressed format with small file sizes.
These attributes are perfect for the world we now live in, where streaming & sharing has dramatically increased, and physically handing over a hard drive is not as easy to do. It is also a great option where you need to deliver and share files quickly or where there is limited time or budget for color grading, as the h.265 have excellent image quality and allow you to ‘bake in’ Rec. 709 or a custom LUT to the file.
H.265 is also an excellent option for ARRI and RED SDI proxy workflows, where RAW is being recorded internally on the camera. Recordings can use the same name as the internal files, so that you can start editing with high quality proxy files immediately. Then, once you have created your edit, you can use the RAW files for the final color grade.

Shooting 4K and above in advanced formats like ProRes, DNx and ProRes RAW requires storage media with ample volume, fast transfer times and high, sustained read and write speeds.
AtomX SSDmini drives complete the Ninja V’s digital workflow. Smaller than conventional SATA SSDs they are an affordable professional alternative to recording to a camera’s internal memory cards. Offering up to 2TB storage, a sequential read speed of up to 550MB/s and write speed up to 500MB/s, these drives can record up to 150 minutes of 4K ProRes on a single drive. Measuring 8cm long, 7.5cm wide and weighing as little as 88g, the custom built drives neatly fit the Ninja V’s compact proportions.
