A great little networker

There’s never been so much essential technology packed into such an affordable, portable product. With Zato Connect, you get several products in one. A high-quality 5-inch FullHD monitor, an H.264 recorder – ideal for long events, a live streamer, a gateway to camera to cloud workflows, and a portable NDI | HX2 monitor. And you can use your high quality camera as a webcam and connect Teams, Zoom, Google Meet or Skype to a livestream.

Any one of these features sold separately would be worth the price of a Zato, but it comes with all of them.

Networked video

Pan. Tilt. Zato.

Many PTZ (Pan, Tilt and Zoom) cameras now come with NDI | HX2, a bandwidth-friendly version of NDI that uses H.264 as its compression codec. Simply plug Zato into a network and you’ll see every available NDI | HX2 source. Use Zato’s simple touchscreen interface to select which network channel you wish to view. It’s ideal for large and small scale camera installations, where it can be used as a confidence monitor or for fault-tracing.

The Power of Camera
to Cloud

Zato Connect is packed with all the features you’d expect from Atomos, and streamlined for speed. A brilliant monitor, essential I/O and onboard recording are just the start of it. Connecting to the cloud with Zato gives you superpowers. That’s because you can capture, edit and post your social media content in the fastest possible way.

While you shoot, Zato uploads your video to the cloud. It will just be “there” for you as soon as you’re ready to edit – or a friend can start editing while you’re shooting.

Camera to Cloud (C2C) is a simple-to-use, secure method to share media and collaborate in real-time. Through Atomos Cloud Studio you have a choice of C2C platform: Adobe or Sony Ci Media. Zato acts as a gateway to the cloud for an increasingly wide range of digital cinema, mirrorless and DSLR cameras that would not otherwise be able to connect to a network or manage file transfers.

Stream Genius

Stream from anywhere

Connect to the internet using Wi-Fi 5 or Ethernet (via USB-C adapter) via your home/work network or cellular hotspot. Zato is an ideal solution for live streaming in the field, the studio, or practically anywhere else. Mount it directly on a DSLR or mirrorless camera, but it’s equally at home next to a multi-input switcher, such as our AtomX Cast, or a gaming console for a fully computerless streaming workflow. You can power it for hours from a single NP-F battery or use mains power via USB-C PD.

Portable monitoring

Your switcher’s new best friend

Use Zato as a portable program monitor and streaming encoder and make it your multi-input switcher’s new best friend. There’s no need for a heavy laptop at every gig: Zato can handle many of its tasks with a much smaller footprint. It fits into any camera bag and comes in super light at 245g.

Multiple I/O

Even though it’s incredibly compact, Zato has input and output ports for both HDMI and USB-UVC. It accepts a wide variety of video sources and can output a live stream – or appear to a computer as a webcam source. It also comes with a 3.5mm audio jack for mic or line inputs, and you can monitor audio via a dedicated headphone output.

Record and Restream

You can record an HDMI or Webcam input or your ongoing livestream or presentation as a backup. Recordings are to an SD card in the bandwidth and storage-friendly H.264 format. You can then use these recordings to stream “as live”. It’s the best of all worlds.

Put Audio in the Mix

Zato includes an audio mixer, which can be used to adjust and combine audio signals from the 3.5mm analog input with the embedded audio from HDMI and USB UVC sources. Each channel can be adjusted independently and mixed down to a single stereo track for a livestream, recording, or video presentation.

Presentation choices

Configurable Picture-in-Picture

Zato supports Picture-in-Picture (PiP) with easy-to-use presets, but also gives you all the controls you need to make on-the-fly adjustments to your PiP configuration, including PiP size, PiP position, and a PiP source selector.

Go Live or As Live!

Each livestream can be recorded as local H.264 backup to an SD card. With the ability to combine recorded sources with live content, it’s possible to take one of these recordings and stream the content “as live” with Zato Connect. This opens lots of creative opportunities and adds value to any stream or video presentation.

Create an Identity

Today, businesses, influencers, entrepreneurs, houses of worship, and educators all use video to establish an identity or reinforce a brand. High production values can make a huge difference by emphasizing branding, key messaging, even attracting sponsorship. Applying graphic overlays to streams or watermarking recorded content is easy with Zato Connect.
