Sigma fp

With the fp, Sigma delivered the world’s smallest full frame mirrorless camera. Coupled with the Ninja V it creates an ultra-compact shooting package that delivers a feature set comparable to those of a professional cinema camera. Via video you’re able to capture 4k UHD up to 30p and HD up to 120p. Via RAW you’ll benefit from the addition of 4k DCI at 24p as well as increased color accuracy and resolutions, and by engaging RAW you can step up your production quality to 12bit, providing an increase from 16 million color graduations to over 68 billion.

Together the Sigma fp and Ninja V will record Apple ProRes RAW at up to DCI 4Kp24 or UHD 4Kp30 directly from the camera’s full-frame sensor. It will also be the world’s first mirrorless camera to record RAW over HDMI video in HD at 120fps for amazing high speed shots. Creators are granted creative control of their video images in post-production as ProRes RAW gives amazing flexibility for adjusting the color and look of the video, while extending brightness and shadow detail. Footage can be finished in the highest possible quality for either HDR or SDR (Rec.709).

Bare bones or built out

The fp’s compact size and lightweight body makes it ideal for use on a gimbal or stabiliser, POV or crash cam, with the Ninja V offering the perfect monitoring solution combined with high quality recording. The size of the camera also provides a canvas to build out your own rig with the addition of cages, lens adaptors and more, and with the addition of AtomX SYNC module for the Ninja V you can seamlessly scale a solution to meet your needs. The flexibility of combinations possible when partnering the Sigma fp with the Atomos Ninja V truly allows you to expand the possibilities of imaging expression.

Atomos monitoring, HDR, LUTs & more

With it’s compact form factor the fp has limited monitoring capacity, with the addition of the Ninja V you gain 60% increase in monitoring size. With options both on the camera body and via a cage you’ll have the choice of a wide selection of mounts to provide flexibility or articulation adjustment and off camera to monitoring.

Atomos’ state of the art, high brightness HDR screen technology on the Ninja V enables monitor up to 10.5 stops of dynamic range directly from the sensor. The Ninja V allows users to accurately monitor the RAW signal on its daylight-viewable 5” HDR screen, previewing it for HDR in a choice of HLG and PQ (HDR10) formats. It offers touchscreen access to tools including waveforms, false color magnify or engage peaking check focus for each angle and make any adjustments to get the perfect HDR or SDR shots.

Sigma offer a wide array of lens with 14 directly for the L mount and options to convert to PL for use with their Cine lens line the Ninja V provides both Cine and Social media aspect ratio frame guides. The Ninja V can also be used in combination with the directors’ mode to provide both a larger monitor for viewing, 3D LUTs and as well as a variety of anamorphic de-sequeeze modes.

The ProRes RAW Advantage

Creators are granted complete creative control of their video images in post-production as Apple ProRes RAW combines the flexibility of RAW video with the real-time performance of ProRes. The format gives filmmakers incredible latitude when adjusting the look of the their images and extending brightness and shadow detail – making ProRes RAW ideal for HDR workflows.



In addition to their groundbreaking combination of flexibility and performance, ProRes RAW files are smaller than other RAW files – simplifying and accelerating file transfer, media management, and archiving. ProRes RAW files from the Sigma fp can easily be edited on most modern Apple Mac systems. ProRes RAW is fully supported in Final Cut Pro X along with a collection of other apps including ASSIMILATE SCRATCH, Colorfront, FilmLight Baselight, and Grass Valley Edius. Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer are also set to support ProRes RAW in 2020. Optional are also available to transcode ProRes Raw to to HDR video in ProRes 4444 XQ 12bit video via Apple’s Compressor for use in the wide variety of applications that support this codec.
