Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III

The E-M1 Mark III has a 20.4MP Micro Four Thirds sensor with a TruePic IX image processor. It’s super rugged, has a durable magnesium alloy body with weather-sealing for use in harsh shooting environments. The Auto Focus system has been upgraded with 121 phase and contrast detect areas and works hand in with a ‘best in class’ in-body 5-axis stabilization system. It has a Super Sonic Wave Filter which vibrates at 30,000 times per second to keep dust and dust off the sensor. This is a very capable camera indeed at a very competitive price point.

Pairing this powerful and extremely capable camera with the Ninja V enables a flexible Apple ProRes RAW workflow, with creative control to adjust the color and look of the video in post-production while extending brightness and shadow detail. Record in 4K UHD up to 30 fps and 4K DCI up to 24fps in Cinema mode. Record the 12-bit camera output for maximum detail and latitude in post-production - optimal for HDR finishing or to give greater flexibility in SDR (Rec.709)

Atomos HDR monitoring using the Ninja V

The accurate 5” 1000nit HDR high brightness display of the Ninja V allows users to view the OM-D E-M1X signal in HDR in a choice of HLG and PQ (HDR10) formats. The monitor offers touchscreen access to tools like waveforms, magnify or engage peaking check focus for each angle and make any adjustments to get the perfect HDR or SDR shot.

Ninja V advantage

The Ninja V allows users to accurately monitor the RAW signal on its daylight-viewable 5” 1000nit brightness HDR screen. Setup is simple when the camera is attached with perfectly tuned color settings applied automatically. Users can then view the RAW image accurately in HDR in a choice of HLG and PQ (HDR10) formats. The Ninja V offers touchscreen access to tools like waveforms, 1-1 magnification and focus peaking, allowing them to perfect their RAW video. The Ninja V then records the Apple ProRes RAW data onto a removable AtomX SSDmini or other SSD drive. When shooting is complete the drive is removed and connected to a computer via USB for immediate offload and editing.

Apple ProRes RAW is now firmly established as the new standard for RAW video capture, the M1 Mark III joins our fast-growing number of cameras outputting RAW over HDMI. ProRes RAW combines the visual and workflow benefits of RAW video with the incredible real-time performance of ProRes. The format gives filmmakers enormous latitude when adjusting the look of their images and extending brightness and shadow detail, making it ideal for HDR workflows.

Both ProRes RAW, and the higher bandwidth, less compressed ProRes RAW HQ are supported and manageable file sizes speed up and simplify file transfer, media management, and archiving. ProRes RAW is fully supported in Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer 2020.10 update, along with a collection of other apps including ASSIMILATE SCRATCH, Colorfront, FilmLight Baselight and Grass Valley Edius.
